January 8, 2013: I've heard multiple reports of the Space Center Great Work having difficulty pulling in the 300 workers required for it to function. I don't know if it's an official bug, but if you're having the same problem, you're not alone. It only happens with the Space Center. The other Great Works are working out ok. Leave a comment if you're having the same difficulty.
February 5, 2014: The developers are aware of the issue and there has been some suggestions by users that it is related to specific maps. You can read more about this bug on the SimCity messageboards.
April 22, 2014: Mark Johnson over on the SimCity messageboards has been testing out the Space Port great work and finding out which maps it can be built on, and which it doesn't. He's compiled the following list. (Source) Note: I haven't tried to build this GW since I started hearing reports of the bug. If you have success or failure with any of the regions below, please post a comment so we can get additional confirmation back to Mark Johnson.
SUCCESS:
Edgewater Bay
Cape Trinity
Verdant Jungle
Discovery Delta
Sunrunner Bay
FAILURE:
Desolation
Titan Gorge
Horizon Archipelago
Rambling Badlands
Whitewater Valley
Viridian Woods
Granite Lake
Reflection Atoll
Serenity Key
September 13, 2014: Mark Norris of the SimNation Guild found a solution on a Japanese website describing a work-around that gets the 300 workers to the construction site. It works! You can read more about it on my Space Center Great Work-around page.
Great Work Syncing Bug:
Several updates ago there were many issues with Great Works not syncing properly. This issue has been resolved, so I deleted that information from this page.
i have had an issue where i build up 4 cites and get the $1M fee to build great works go to all the cites to make sure i can send stuff to the works and one city says that there is no great work and i am able to build again.
ReplyDeleteThis has happened to me me several times all EA say is start again...
Thanks for reporting back. I'm glad to hear it worked on at least 3 out of the 4. It's clearly not working 100%, as in your case it was 75%. Maxis has GW syncing as one of the issues currently being worked on. You can read the official list here: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9703871.page It's my #1 gripe with the game right now, but I do believe visiting each of the cities does help.
DeleteYes! That's right that you were in the guild and everyone helps. I'm Phongpanot from the guild
ReplyDeleteNot working on Serenity Key. I spent countless hours getting the materials only to get to phase 2 and have it stalled. Please get a patch for this.
ReplyDeleteDoes not work in Cape Trinity. I M REALLY GETTING TIRED OF THIS BUG FIX IT NOW
ReplyDeleteThanks Frank, I've reported it back to Mark Johnson who's been tracking all of these attempts on the messageboards. Here's a link to the thread. http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/15/10047999.page#32875086
DeleteDelete 'Triton Valley' from this list- not a region.
ReplyDeleteFixed. Thanks for the heads up on that.
DeleteSpace Center failed to get any workers @ Northern Great Work site on Granite Lake (sandbox mode). I had about 1.3k unemployed workers available in a new city of just R (Lewis Landing) after sending the resources to the GW from another city (Boone).
ReplyDeleteSeems prudent to include information about this glitch on the region pages of the affected regions.
Space Center failed to get any workers on Wakea Island of Serenity Key (sandbox mode). Also tried having a city of all R on one of the two plots & still didn't work. This completes the categorization of regions for this bug.
ReplyDeletePlease update the list on this page to include Serenity Key as a failure for the Space Center.
DeleteThis game has been out for a long time and still there is a great works bug. It takes hours to develop the resources to build a great works and even more hours to get those resources to the project. Only for it to stall on getting the workers to start building and have it fail. Does any one at EA care about this? It seems not as no one has done anything to fix this problem. They are happy that they are making money on a failed product. Will this ever get fixed ? think not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hear you Frank. To me it's the number 1 bug that needs to get fixed. Over and over I hear people ask about why the space port won't finish. So many hours of time wasted. Plus, once you start building a GW, there's no going back.
DeleteI personally think the Education Bug is the #1 bug that should have been fixed ASAP. It overlaps with just about every aspect of the game when played as intended and not the work around we find ourselves doing!
DeleteGlad to read on the work-around page that this GW bug has been fixed this month!! Kudos to EA!! But in my option, the education bug is the #1 bug I wish to be fixed. It overshadows so many aspects of the game!!
DeleteThere's still hope (perhaps)!!
Great, I had hoped to complete a great work on my own. Picked the wrong one and this game will never launch again.
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for the list but I tried building the SC on Cape Trinity, before even knowing there was a problem and it did not work...
ReplyDeleteYou can get it to work, but you'll have to do a work-around. You can read about that here: http://www.simcityplanningguide.com/2014/09/SimCitySpacePortGreatWorkFix.html
DeleteHi, weird. I was able to build the Space Center on Viridian Woods back in 2013. No mods and stuff. Weird.
